Le septuag\u00e9naire\u00a0estime avoir obtenu 60% des suffrages, alors que les r\u00e9sultats officiels lui ont inflig\u00e9 une courte d\u00e9faite. M\u00eame si le scrutin a \u00a0\u00e9t\u00e9 critiqu\u00e9 par la communaut\u00e9 internationale au regard de plusieurs irr\u00e9gularit\u00e9s enregistr\u00e9es, Ali Bongo a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lu pr\u00e9sident. Mais Jean Ping ne l’entend pas de cette oreille. Il y a quelques jours, il a entam\u00e9 un tour des capitales du monde. Il \u00e9tait mardi \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve, o\u00f9 il a \u00e9t\u00e9 re\u00e7u par le Haut-commissaire des droits de l\u2019homme, pour faire le point sur la r\u00e9pression au Gabon. \u2013 Je ne dirais pas les choses en ces termes. L\u2019UE a fait tout ce qu\u2019elle a pu. Mais il faut maintenant qu\u2019elle d\u00e9cr\u00e8te des sanctions contre les principaux responsables des exactions au Gabon. Je crois que les Europ\u00e9ens sont pr\u00eats \u00e0 aller dans cette direction.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2013 Bien s\u00fbr, c\u2019est lui le premier donneur d\u2019ordre de la vague de r\u00e9pression qui s\u2019est abattue sur le pays apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9lection de l\u2019an dernier.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2013 Cela ne risque-t-il pas de l\u2019inciter \u00e0 s\u2019accrocher au pouvoir?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u2013 Lorsque les dictateurs sont accul\u00e9s, soit ils reculent, soit ils se battent les armes \u00e0 la main. L\u2019exp\u00e9rience montre qu\u2019ils choisissent plut\u00f4t la deuxi\u00e8me attitude.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2013 Non, si Ali Bongo est pr\u00eat \u00e0 renoncer au pouvoir, nous lui offrirons des garanties. Il pourra voyager librement et ses biens ne seront pas confisqu\u00e9s. Cela n\u2019inclut pas les poursuites en France engag\u00e9es pour les biens mal-acquis dans ce pays. La justice fran\u00e7aise est souveraine.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2013 N\u2019avez-vous pas l\u2019impression que le temps joue contre vous? Les semaines et les mois passent et Ali Bongo dirige toujours le pays.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u2013 A l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur, le r\u00e9gime joue sur la lassitude de la communaut\u00e9 internationale. Mais, \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur du pays, la situation est catastrophique. L\u2019\u00e9conomie est sinistr\u00e9e. Il n\u2019y a presque aucune administration qui n\u2019est pas en gr\u00e8ve. Ce n\u2019est pas seulement parce que les fonctionnaires ne sont plus pay\u00e9s, mais parce qu\u2019ils continuent de protester contre le coup d\u2019Etat d\u2019Ali Bongo.
