Durant la marche de Selma \u00e0 Montgomery alors qu&rsquo;il veut d&rsquo;abandonner, Martin Luther King appelle Mahalia pour qu\u2019elle lui donne la force en chantant le blues. Apr\u00e8s la d\u00e9c\u00e8s du leader, Mahalia chantera devant des milliers de personnes lors du service fun\u00e8bre du leader assassin\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;une des plus belles du <sup>20e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle meurt le 27 <time class=\"nowrap date-lien\" datetime=\"1972-01\">janvier 1972 \u00e0 Evergreen Park dans l&rsquo;Illinois.<\/time> Au cours des c\u00e9r\u00e9monies fun\u00e8bres c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9es \u00e0 La Nouvelle-Orl\u00e9ans et \u00e0 Chicago, un hommage \u00e9mouvant lui est rendu.
