Un jeune malien a bien voulu\u00a0d\u00e9velopper un nouveau type de ciment plus respectueux de l\u2019environnement \u00e0 base de sable, de gravier et de d\u00e9chets plastiques. Les premiers tests s\u2019av\u00e8rent\u00a0satisfaisants. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Son \u00a0ambition, c’est construire, le Mali de demain, avec une normalisation qui r\u00e9pond aux besoins actuels. Il se nomme\u00a0Moussa Thiam, malien d’origine vivant \u00e0 Ottawa au Canada. Depuis novembre 2012, il\u00a0d\u00e9veloppe une m\u00e9thode de transformation de d\u00e9chets plastiques en mat\u00e9riaux de construction durables.<\/p>\n

Aujourd’hui, si le b\u00e9ton est le deuxi\u00e8me assemblage de mat\u00e9riaux min\u00e9raux le plus utilis\u00e9 par l’homme apr\u00e8s l’eau potable, il est surtout, l\u2019un des plus polluants au monde. En effet, le contenant du ciment sert de liant entre les granulats.<\/p>\n

plusieurs \u00e9tudes apprennent que produire une tonne de ciment entra\u00eenerait une \u00e9mission d\u2019environ 900 kg de C02. Son principal constituant, le clinker, n\u00e9cessite une cuisson \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de 1 450 degr\u00e9s celsius, ce qui explique la forte consommation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n

Le ciment est responsable \u00e0 lui seul d\u2019approximativement 5 % des \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre dans le monde. Voici les principales motivations de\u00a0Moussa Thiam, soucieux du respect de l’environnement.<\/p>\n

Comment \u00e7a marche ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Le malien, Moussa Thiam a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de remplacer le clinker par un m\u00e9lange avec du sable, un peu de gravier et des d\u00e9chets plastiques qui vont constituer le liant de son mat\u00e9riau. Le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 est ensuite le m\u00eame que pour la fabrication du b\u00e9ton, \u00e0 un d\u00e9tail pr\u00e8s : les mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res sont introduites dans un four, chauff\u00e9 \u00e0 une centaine de degr\u00e9s, soit une temp\u00e9rature bien inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle utilis\u00e9e habituellement pour cr\u00e9er du b\u00e9ton. L\u2019ensemble une fois m\u00e9lang\u00e9 et coul\u00e9 dans des moules donne un m\u00e9lange homog\u00e8ne visible sur la photo ci-dessous.<\/p>\n

Des premiers tests, avec quelques milliers de tonnes de ciment produits, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s au Mali et dans le cadre de travaux avec l\u2019universit\u00e9 d\u2019Ottawa, en incorporant des sachets plastiques dans le m\u00e9lange. Le ciment a permis de paver quelques routes annexes ainsi que des parties de cour d\u2019\u00e9tablissements scolaires \u00e0 Bamako.<\/p>\n

Un autre avantage que cite, l’inventeur\u00a0Moussa Thiam \u00a0est le c\u00f4ut financier. En effet il est \u00e0 savoir\u00a0qu\u2019un m\u00e8tre cube de b\u00e9ton co\u00fbte actuellement entre 125 000 et 150 000 francs CFA au Mali, soit 190 \u00e0 228 euros, le prix du ciment \u00e9cologique pourrait \u00eatre inf\u00e9rieur de 15 %, environ 107 000 francs CFA le m\u00e8tre cube, soit 160 euros. Mais attention, pour le moment, ce ciment, plus l\u00e9ger et moins gourmand en \u00e9nergie, n\u2019est pas adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 tout type de construction. Il ne pourrait par exemple pas permettre de construire une maison suffisamment solide.<\/p>\n
