Image recadr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>La C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire renforce les moyens de son unit\u00e9 charg\u00e9e de lutter contre l\u2019orpaillage ill\u00e9gal. Mercredi 30 septembre, les autorit\u00e9s ont remis au Groupement sp\u00e9cial de lutte contre l\u2019orpaillage ill\u00e9gal, le GS-LOI, 300 motos, 30 v\u00e9hicules pick-up, 12 zodiaques et des drones.<\/p>\n<h2>Surveiller les sites et intervenir plus vite<\/h2>\n<p>Ce mat\u00e9riel doit am\u00e9liorer la mobilit\u00e9 des agents, aussi bien sur les pistes que sur l\u2019eau. Les drones doivent aider \u00e0 rep\u00e9rer et cartographier les sites clandestins. Selon les autorit\u00e9s, l\u2019objectif est de pouvoir intervenir de jour comme de nuit, alors que les op\u00e9rations de d\u00e9mant\u00e8lement se multiplient.<\/p>\n<p>Cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 2021, le GS-LOI est au centre de la r\u00e9ponse s\u00e9curitaire contre l\u2019extraction d\u2019or non autoris\u00e9e. Le gouvernement s\u2019est fix\u00e9 un d\u00e9lai de six mois pour tenter d\u2019\u00e9radiquer le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne. Il reste \u00e0 voir si ces nouveaux \u00e9quipements permettront d\u2019atteindre cet objectif affich\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2>Un durcissement des sanctions envisag\u00e9<\/h2>\n<p>La remise de mat\u00e9riel intervient apr\u00e8s l\u2019adoption par le gouvernement d\u2019un projet de loi modifiant le Code p\u00e9nal. Le texte pr\u00e9voit notamment des amendes de 50 \u00e0 100 millions de francs CFA et des peines de deux \u00e0 cinq ans de prison pour des personnes impliqu\u00e9es dans l\u2019orpaillage ill\u00e9gal. Dans certains cas mettant en cause un agent public, la peine pourrait atteindre vingt ans.<\/p>\n<p>Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un projet de loi, pas d\u2019une nouvelle peine d\u00e9j\u00e0 appliqu\u00e9e. Les autorit\u00e9s pr\u00e9sentent cette lutte comme un enjeu de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 nationale, en plus des questions environnementales et \u00e9conomiques li\u00e9es aux sites
