Un nom commence \u00e0 circuler au c\u0153ur de la fusillade qui a perturb\u00e9 le d\u00eener annuel des correspondants de la Maison Blanche, \u00e0 Washington. Cole Tomas Allen, 31 ans, est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par les autorit\u00e9s am\u00e9ricaines comme le suspect arr\u00eat\u00e9 apr\u00e8s les coups de feu qui ont d\u00e9clench\u00e9 une intervention rapide du Secret Service et l\u2019\u00e9vacuation de Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

L\u2019incident s\u2019est produit samedi 25 avril au Washington Hilton, pendant l\u2019un des rendez-vous politico-m\u00e9diatiques les plus surveill\u00e9s des \u00c9tats-Unis. Donald Trump, la Premi\u00e8re dame et plusieurs hauts responsables am\u00e9ricains se trouvaient sur place lorsque les services de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 ont r\u00e9agi \u00e0 des tirs pr\u00e8s de la zone de l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement. Le pr\u00e9sident am\u00e9ricain n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 bless\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Un suspect ma\u00eetris\u00e9 apr\u00e8s la panique<\/h2>\n

Selon les premiers \u00e9l\u00e9ments rapport\u00e9s par des m\u00e9dias am\u00e9ricains, dont Bloomberg, Cole Tomas Allen aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 ma\u00eetris\u00e9 par les forces de l\u2019ordre apr\u00e8s l\u2019incident.<\/p>\n

Une image diffus\u00e9e dans la presse montre un homme pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 comme le suspect au sol, contr\u00f4l\u00e9 par des agents, tandis que la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 se r\u00e9organisait autour du d\u00eener.<\/p>\n

Le Secret Service a indiqu\u00e9 que les personnes plac\u00e9es sous sa protection \u00e9taient saines et sauves. Un agent aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 touch\u00e9 au niveau de son gilet pare-balles, sans blessure grave signal\u00e9e. L\u2019\u00e9pisode a tout de m\u00eame provoqu\u00e9 une forte tension dans la salle et autour de l\u2019h\u00f4tel, o\u00f9 de nombreux invit\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9vacu\u00e9s ou maintenus \u00e0 distance pendant l\u2019intervention.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump a ensuite r\u00e9agi publiquement, saluant la rapidit\u00e9 des agents et confirmant que la situation avait \u00e9t\u00e9 plac\u00e9e sous contr\u00f4le. L\u2019affaire a imm\u00e9diatement pris une dimension politique, car le d\u00eener des correspondants est l\u2019un des \u00e9v\u00e9nements o\u00f9 journalistes, responsables politiques et personnalit\u00e9s publiques se croisent sous haute s\u00e9curit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Le profil de Cole Tomas Allen attire l\u2019attention<\/h2>\n

C\u2019est le profil du suspect qui donne aujourd\u2019hui une nouvelle tournure \u00e0 l\u2019affaire. D\u2019apr\u00e8s Bloomberg, Cole Tomas Allen aurait obtenu un dipl\u00f4me en g\u00e9nie m\u00e9canique \u00e0 Caltech en 2017. Il aurait aussi poursuivi un master en informatique \u00e0 California State University, Dominguez Hills, encore r\u00e9cemment, en 2025.<\/p>\n

Le m\u00eame m\u00e9dia rapporte qu\u2019Allen aurait travers\u00e9 les \u00c9tats-Unis en train avant l\u2019attaque. Il aurait pris l\u2019Amtrak depuis Los Angeles vers Chicago, puis vers Washington, avant de s\u2019installer au Washington Hilton plusieurs jours avant les faits. Ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9voqu\u00e9s dimanche par Todd Blanche, Acting Attorney General, lors de l\u2019\u00e9mission Face the Nation sur CBS.<\/p>\n

Les enqu\u00eateurs cherchent d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 comprendre si ce d\u00e9placement, ce s\u00e9jour \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4tel et les pr\u00e9paratifs pr\u00e9sum\u00e9s forment un plan organis\u00e9 ou une s\u00e9rie d\u2019actions isol\u00e9es. Les autorit\u00e9s am\u00e9ricaines restent prudentes sur le mobile exact.<\/p>\n

Des armes achet\u00e9es plusieurs mois avant l\u2019attaque<\/h2>\n

Bloomberg affirme aussi, en citant un profil de renseignement des forces de l\u2019ordre, que le suspect aurait acquis des armes bien avant l\u2019incident. Cole Tomas Allen aurait achet\u00e9 un fusil \u00e0 pompe Maverick calibre 12 dans un magasin Turner\u2019s Outdoorsman \u00e0 Torrance, en Californie, en ao\u00fbt 2025.<\/p>\n

Il aurait \u00e9galement achet\u00e9 un pistolet semi-automatique Armscor dans une armurerie CAP Tactical Firearms \u00e0 Lawndale, en octobre 2023. Ces achats pr\u00e9sum\u00e9s int\u00e9ressent particuli\u00e8rement les enqu\u00eateurs, car ils pourraient aider \u00e0 retracer la chronologie de la pr\u00e9paration.<\/p>\n

Toujours selon les \u00e9l\u00e9ments rapport\u00e9s, les premi\u00e8res preuves sugg\u00e9reraient qu\u2019Allen visait des responsables de l\u2019administration, m\u00eame si Todd Blanche a refus\u00e9 de donner davantage de d\u00e9tails. Les autorit\u00e9s ont aussi indiqu\u00e9 que le suspect ne coop\u00e9rerait pas avec les enqu\u00eateurs.<\/p>\n

Deux chefs d\u2019accusation f\u00e9d\u00e9raux et d\u2019autres possibles<\/h2>\n

Cole Tomas Allen fait face \u00e0 des accusations f\u00e9d\u00e9rales li\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019usage d\u2019une arme \u00e0 feu pendant un crime violent et \u00e0 une agression contre un agent f\u00e9d\u00e9ral avec une arme dangereuse. Des charges suppl\u00e9mentaires pourraient suivre, selon les responsables am\u00e9ricains cit\u00e9s par la presse.<\/p>\n

Son passage devant un tribunal f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de Washington est attendu lundi.<\/p>\n
