Le pape L\u00e9on XIII a exprim\u00e9 sa profonde inqui\u00e9tude face au r\u00e9cent raid am\u00e9ricain au Venezuela, insistant sur le fait que le bien-\u00eatre du peuple v\u00e9n\u00e9zu\u00e9lien devait primer sur toute autre consid\u00e9ration.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Lors de sa traditionnelle b\u00e9n\u00e9diction dominicale de midi au Vatican, le pape a appel\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin imm\u00e9diate des violences et a soulign\u00e9 l’importance du respect de la souverainet\u00e9 du Venezuela. Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la situation actuelle devait mener \u00e0 la justice et \u00e0 la paix, et non \u00e0 une instabilit\u00e9 accrue.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab C\u2019est avec une profonde inqui\u00e9tude que je suis l\u2019\u00e9volution de la situation au Venezuela \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le pape. \u00ab Le bien du peuple v\u00e9n\u00e9zu\u00e9lien bien-aim\u00e9 doit primer sur toute autre consid\u00e9ration et conduire \u00e0 surmonter la violence et \u00e0 s\u2019engager sur la voie de la justice et de la paix, en garantissant la souverainet\u00e9 du pays, en assurant l\u2019\u00e9tat de droit inscrit dans la Constitution et en respectant les droits humains et civils de chaque personne. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Les propos du pape interviennent dans un contexte de vives tensions internationales suite \u00e0 l’op\u00e9ration militaire am\u00e9ricaine et \u00e0 la d\u00e9tention du pr\u00e9sident v\u00e9n\u00e9zu\u00e9lien Nicol\u00e1s Maduro. Son appel portait sur la protection des civils et le respect des principes juridiques et constitutionnels en cette p\u00e9riode d’incertitude.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ce n’est pas la premi\u00e8re fois que le pape L\u00e9on XIII s’exprime sur le Venezuela.
