Une femme du village de Shillai, dans l’Himachal Pradesh, en Inde, a \u00e9pous\u00e9 deux fr\u00e8res lors d’une rare c\u00e9r\u00e9monie polyandre, connue localement sous le nom de Jodidara.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le mariage, qui s’est tenu dans la r\u00e9gion de Trans-Giri, dans le district de Sirmaur, a commenc\u00e9 le 12 juillet 2025 et a \u00e9t\u00e9 rempli de chants folkloriques locaux, de danses traditionnelles et de rituels culturels.<\/span><\/p>\n

La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de trois jours a attir\u00e9 des centaines de personnes venues de loin et de pr\u00e8s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La mari\u00e9e Sunita Chauhan et les mari\u00e9s, Pradeep et Kapil Negi, ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le mariage \u00e9tait une d\u00e9cision mutuelle prise sans aucune pression ext\u00e9rieure.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les photos et vid\u00e9os de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie sont devenues virales sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux, suscitant un nouveau d\u00e9bat sur la pratique tribale, l\u00e9galement reconnue par les lois fiscales de l’Himachal Pradesh sous le nom de \u00ab Jodidara \u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Polyandrie<\/p>\n

Dans le seul village de Badhana, cinq mariages polyandres de ce type ont eu lieu au cours des six derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunita, originaire du village de Kunhat, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu’elle \u00e9tait au courant de la tradition avant de se marier.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab J’ai pris ma d\u00e9cision sans aucune pression. Je respecte le lien que nous avons tiss\u00e9 \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pradeep, qui travaille dans un service gouvernemental, est originaire de Shillai. Son jeune fr\u00e8re Kapil travaille \u00e0 l’\u00e9tranger.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous avons suivi la tradition publiquement car nous en sommes fiers et c’\u00e9tait une d\u00e9cision commune \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Pradeep.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Polyandrie<\/p>\n

Kapil a ajout\u00e9 : \u00ab Nous vivons peut-\u00eatre s\u00e9par\u00e9ment, mais gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce mariage, nous assurons soutien, stabilit\u00e9 et amour \u00e0 notre femme en tant que famille unie. Nous avons toujours cru en la transparence \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

Selon le Times of India, la communaut\u00e9 Hatti, qui r\u00e9side le long de la fronti\u00e8re entre l’Himachal et l’Uttarakhand, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9clar\u00e9e tribu r\u00e9pertori\u00e9e il y a trois ans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La polyandrie fait partie depuis longtemps de sa tradition, m\u00eame si elle est devenue de plus en plus rare avec l\u2019alphab\u00e9tisation croissante et le d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de la r\u00e9gion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bien que de tels mariages aient encore lieu, les anciens affirment que beaucoup sont d\u00e9sormais c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9s discr\u00e8tement, m\u00eame si la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 continue de les accepter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les experts attribuent l\u2019origine de cette pratique \u00e0 la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de pr\u00e9server les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s fonci\u00e8res familiales.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans cette tradition unique, connue localement sous le nom de \u00ab Jajda \u00bb, la mari\u00e9e est amen\u00e9e au village du mari\u00e9 dans une procession.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 la r\u00e9sidence du mari\u00e9, un rituel appel\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Seenj\u00a0\u00bb est c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9. Un pr\u00eatre chante des mantras en dialecte local, asperge le couple d’eau b\u00e9nite et offre du jaggery \u2013 un geste symbolique pour la douceur et l’harmonie de leur vie conjugale, invoquant les b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions de la divinit\u00e9 familiale, ou Kul Devta.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
