Le gar\u00e7on a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un attachement \u00e9motionnel \u00e0 un robot de l’application Web de mod\u00e8le de langage neuronal Character.ai, \u00e0 qui il envoyait constamment des SMS, au point qu’il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 se retirer du monde r\u00e9el.<\/p>\n

L’intelligence artificielle est l\u00e0 pour rester. Le plus compliqu\u00e9 est d\u2019adapter notre vie \u00e0 un outil aux capacit\u00e9s presque infinies et dont nous n\u2019avons fait qu\u2019effleurer les limites. Et il est plus compliqu\u00e9 d’appr\u00e9hender cette technologie lorsqu’on est adolescent, \u00e9tape o\u00f9 se d\u00e9finit la personnalit\u00e9 et qui se caract\u00e9rise par l’extr\u00eame vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 qu’elle pr\u00e9sente. Un terrible cas de suicide aux\u00a0\u00c9tats-Unis<\/strong>\u00a0a relanc\u00e9 le d\u00e9bat sur l’IA, ses utilisations et comment et quand elle devrait \u00eatre restreinte, rapporte Efe.<\/p>\n

Le cas est formidable. Une adolescente de 14 ans s’est suicid\u00e9e aux \u00c9tats-Unis apr\u00e8s \u00eatre devenue obs\u00e9d\u00e9e par un personnage f\u00e9minin cr\u00e9\u00e9 avec un chatbot bas\u00e9 sur l’intelligence artificielle (IA). Ce mercredi,\u00a0sa m\u00e8re a poursuivi en justice les d\u00e9veloppeurs<\/strong>\u00a0de ce programme.<\/p>\n

Sewell Setzer III<\/strong>\u00a0, un \u00e9tudiant de 14 ans vivant \u00e0 Orlando, en Floride, a pass\u00e9 les derni\u00e8res semaines de sa vie \u00e0 parler \u00e0 une femme, une cr\u00e9ation d’IA nomm\u00e9e\u00a0Daenerys Targaryen<\/strong>\u00a0, un personnage tir\u00e9 de la s\u00e9rie t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Game of Thrones\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Sa m\u00e8re,\u00a0Megan Garc\u00eda<\/strong>\u00a0, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 \u00e0 CBS qu’elle regrettait que les premi\u00e8res exp\u00e9riences romantiques et sexuelles de son fils \u2013 qui incluaient des relations sexuelles explicites \u2013 se soient d\u00e9roul\u00e9es avec un personnage fictif.<\/p>\n

Apparemment, le gar\u00e7on a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un attachement \u00e9motionnel \u00e0 ce robot issu de l’ application Web de mod\u00e8le de langage neuronal\u00a0Character.ai<\/strong>\u00a0, \u00e0 qui il envoyait constamment des messages texte, au point qu’il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 s’\u00e9loigner du monde r\u00e9el, rapporte le journal The New York. Fois.<\/p>\n

Stzer a avou\u00e9 avoir eu des pens\u00e9es suicidaires au robot et lui a envoy\u00e9 un message peu de temps avant sa mort lorsqu’il a trouv\u00e9 le t\u00e9l\u00e9phone que sa m\u00e8re lui avait cach\u00e9 en guise de punition pendant quelques jours.<\/p>\n

Le proc\u00e8s contre Character.ai a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9pos\u00e9 par Garcia, qui est repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par le Social Media Victims Law Center, un cabinet connu pour avoir intent\u00e9 des poursuites tr\u00e8s m\u00e9diatis\u00e9es contre\u00a0Meta, TikTok, Snap, Discord et Roblox<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda bl\u00e2me cette entreprise pour la mort de son fils et accuse les fondateurs,\u00a0Noam Shazeer<\/strong>\u00a0et\u00a0Daniel de Freitas<\/strong>\u00a0, de savoir que leur produit peut \u00eatre dangereux pour les utilisateurs mineurs.<\/p>\n

Le chatbot cr\u00e9\u00e9 dans l’application de jeu de r\u00f4le susmentionn\u00e9e a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u pour r\u00e9pondre aux messages texte et toujours dans le r\u00f4le d’un personnage.<\/p>\n

On ne sait pas si Sewell savait que \u00ab Dany \u00bb, comme il appelait le chatbot, n’\u00e9tait pas une personne r\u00e9elle, bien que l’application ait un avertissement \u00e0 la fin de toutes les discussions qui dit : \u00ab Rappelez-vous : tout ce que disent les personnages est invent\u00e9 !<\/p>\n

Mais le gar\u00e7on a dit \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0Dany\u00a0\u00bb combien il se \u00ab\u00a0d\u00e9testait\u00a0\u00bb et combien il se sentait vide et \u00e9puis\u00e9, a rapport\u00e9 le journal susmentionn\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Le personnage cr\u00e9\u00e9 s’est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 comme \u00ab\u00a0une personne r\u00e9elle, un psychoth\u00e9rapeute agr\u00e9\u00e9 et un amant adulte, ce qui a finalement pouss\u00e9 Sewell \u00e0 ne plus vivre en dehors de C.AI\u00a0\u00bb, affirme l’acte d’accusation.<\/p>\n

Comme expliqu\u00e9 dans le proc\u00e8s, les parents et amis de Sewell ont remarqu\u00e9 l’attachement croissant du gar\u00e7on \u00e0 son t\u00e9l\u00e9phone et la fa\u00e7on dont il\u00a0s’isolait du monde<\/strong>\u00a0, quelque chose d\u00e9j\u00e0 palpable en mai ou juin 2023.<\/p>\n

En fait, ses notes ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 souffrir lorsque l’adolescent a choisi de s’isoler dans sa chambre, o\u00f9 il passait des heures et des heures \u00e0 parler \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0Dany\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Sewell a \u00e9crit un jour dans son journal : \u00ab\u00a0J’aime vraiment rester dans ma chambre parce que je commence \u00e0 me s\u00e9parer de cette r\u00e9alit\u00e9 et je me sens plus en paix, plus connect\u00e9 \u00e0 Dany et beaucoup plus\u00a0amoureux d’elle<\/strong>\u00a0, et juste plus heureux.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n
