Rebecca Cheptegei<\/strong>\u00a0, une athl\u00e8te ougandaise qui a r\u00e9cemment particip\u00e9 aux\u00a0Jeux olympiques de Paris 2024\u00a0, se\u00a0bat pour sa vie<\/strong>\u00a0apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9\u00a0incendi\u00e9e<\/strong>\u00a0par son petit ami lors d’un incident choquant au\u00a0Kenya.<\/strong><\/p>\n

La coureuse de fond de 33 ans a subi de graves br\u00fblures couvrant\u00a075 % de son corps<\/strong>\u00a0\u00e0 la suite de l’attaque pr\u00e9sum\u00e9e, qui a eu lieu \u00e0 son domicile dans le\u00a0comt\u00e9 de Trans Nzoia<\/strong> , le dimanche 1er septembre.<\/p>\n

Selon les autorit\u00e9s locales, l’\u00e9v\u00e9nement tragique s’est produit apr\u00e8s une violente dispute entre\u00a0Cheptegei<\/strong>\u00a0et son petit ami,\u00a0Nickson Ndiema<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Le commandant de la police du comt\u00e9 de Trans Nzoia,\u00a0Jeremiah ole Kosiom,<\/strong>\u00a0a rapport\u00e9 que\u00a0Cheptegei<\/strong>\u00a0venait de rentrer de l’\u00e9glise avec ses deux enfants lorsque\u00a0Ndiema<\/strong>\u00a0, qui s’\u00e9tait apparemment procur\u00e9 de l’essence, l’a asperg\u00e9e du liquide inflammable et l’a incendi\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Le couple a \u00e9t\u00e9 entendu en train de se disputer devant leur maison \u00bb,<\/em>\u00a0a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le commandant\u00a0Kosiom<\/strong>\u00a0aux journalistes.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Au cours de l’altercation, le petit ami a \u00e9t\u00e9 vu en train de verser un liquide sur la femme avant d’allumer le feu. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n

L’incendie a \u00e9galement caus\u00e9 de graves blessures \u00e0\u00a0Ndiema<\/strong>\u00a0, et tous deux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 transport\u00e9s d’urgence \u00e0 l’h\u00f4pital universitaire et de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence Moi \u00e0\u00a0Eldoret<\/strong>\u00a0pour des soins m\u00e9dicaux d’urgence.<\/p>\n

Les autorit\u00e9s m\u00e8nent une enqu\u00eate sur l’incident et des preuves m\u00e9dico-l\u00e9gales, notamment un jerrican de cinq litres et un t\u00e9l\u00e9phone portable br\u00fbl\u00e9, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 recueillies sur les lieux.<\/p>\n

La participation de Cheptegei aux Jeux olympiques de Paris 2024 a marqu\u00e9 une \u00e9tape importante dans sa carri\u00e8re sportive .<\/p>\n

Elle a termin\u00e9 \u00e0 la 44e place de l’ \u00e9preuve du marathon apr\u00e8s une victoire notable aux Championnats du monde de montagne et de trail en Tha\u00eflande en 2022.<\/p>\n

L’athl\u00e8te avait d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 dans le comt\u00e9 de Trans Nzoia depuis l’Ouganda pour s’entra\u00eener et se pr\u00e9parer pour ses comp\u00e9titions.<\/p>\n

Cet incident tragique a suscit\u00e9 des inqui\u00e9tudes quant \u00e0 la violence croissante contre les athl\u00e8tes f\u00e9minines au\u00a0<\/span>Kenya<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n
