Et quelques mois apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;euphorie des ann\u00e9es 1960, une vague de coups d&rsquo;Etat s&rsquo;abat sur le continent africain. L&rsquo;ordre ancien se remettait en place \u00e0 travers des putschistes cornaqu\u00e9s par la France. Si elle r\u00e9ussit au Togo et aussi au Za\u00efre avec la Belgique, la France va essuyer un revers cinglant au B\u00e9nin en 1977. Le 16 janvier 1977, \u00e0 travers son mercenaire patent\u00e9, elle tente de changer le pouvoir au B\u00e9nin. Au devant de cette attaque rocambolesque contre un Etat souverain d&rsquo;Afrique de l&rsquo;ouest se trouve le barbouze fran\u00e7ais Bob Denard. Il n&rsquo;est pas \u00e0 son premier coup sur le continent et se croit en territoire conquis. Avec ses hommes s\u00fbrs d&rsquo;eux, ils attaquent de nombreux \u00e9difices publics dont le Palais de la Marina, la r\u00e9sidence pr\u00e9sidentielle .<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>Le b\u00e2timent abritant le Tr\u00e9sor et l&rsquo;ambassade du Nigeria sont atteints par leurs tirs. L&rsquo;arm\u00e9e alert\u00e9e \u00e0 la radio. Elle lance la contre-attaque contre les assaillants, contraints de se replier sur l&rsquo;a\u00e9roport. Dans leur d\u00e9bandade, les mercenaires abandonnent une dizaine d&rsquo;hommes bless\u00e9s sur le Tarmac et d\u00e9collent en catastrophe. Mais surtout des armes fran\u00e7aises qui relieront Paris \u00e0 ce coup foireux. Et aussi le Maroc f\u00e2ch\u00e9 de la reconnaissance du Polisario par le Benin.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>Il est environ 11 heures du matin lorsque le Lieutenant-Colonel Mathieu K\u00e9r\u00e9kou et ses hommes font \u00e9chouer <em>\u00ab\u00a0l&rsquo;Op\u00e9ration Crevette\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, le 16 janvier 1977.\u00a0 Ils r\u00e9ussissent \u00e0 faire \u00e9chec au coup d&rsquo;Etat de la France gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l&rsquo;appui des instructeurs Nord-Cor\u00e9ens qui prennent part aussi aux combats sur l&rsquo;a\u00e9roport. Les B\u00e9ninois se souviennent de son appel \u00e0 la radio ce jour historique pour leur pays qui perd une dizaine de soldats:<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>Ainsi donc, un groupe de mercenaires \u00e0 la solde de l\u2019imp\u00e9rialisme international aux abois, a d\u00e9clench\u00e9 depuis ce matin \u00e0 l\u2019aube une agression arm\u00e9e contre le peuple b\u00e9ninois h\u00e9ro\u00efque et sa r\u00e9volution d\u00e9mocratique et populaire en attaquant la ville de Cotonou.(\u2026)\u00a0 En cons\u00e9quence, chaque mili\u00adtante et militant de la R\u00e9volution b\u00e9ninoise o\u00f9 qu\u2019il se trouve, doit se consid\u00e9rer et se comporter comme un sol\u00addat au front, engag\u00e9 dans un combat sacr\u00e9 pour sauver la patrie en danger\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>. Bob Denard, en 1993, r\u00e9pondra devant la Justice fran\u00e7aise de son intervention meurtri\u00e8re au B\u00e9nin. Mais des hommes ayant appartenu au monde du renseignement, viendront t\u00e9moigner en sa faveur et affirmer que le mercenaire avait agi en tant que sous-traitant des services secrets fran\u00e7ais.
