If you\u2019re planning on visiting Iceland and don\u2019t have much time to spare, here are some of the most affordable places you can visit in Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-selfoss\"><a><\/a>Selfoss<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are looking for a destination to explore the wonders of the Golden Circle, Selfoss is the perfect location. Located on the south coast of Iceland, this small town has plenty to see and do including some amazing nature reserves and waterfalls. The nearby S\u00f3lheimasandur Plane Wreck attracts many travellers and offers a great opportunity to learn about aviation history. Be sure to make your way over to Mount Hekla as well, where visitors can hike up a volcano or take part in skiing in winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area around Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss falls is beautiful with walking trails that are well worth exploring during your stay. As one of the most affordable destinations in Iceland Selfoss may be just what you need for an adventurous vacation. Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/guidetoiceland.is\/best-flights\">round-trip flights<\/a> to Iceland to begin your logistical planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-akureyri\"><a><\/a>Akureyri<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Akureyri is located on the north coast of Iceland and non-stop flights are available from Reykjavik on WOW air. The city has been a hub for commerce and trade. Which has led to a diverse selection of restaurants that feature both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewbusby\/2019\/03\/12\/iceland-foods-more-than-you-think\/?sh=6ec8be42378a\">Icelandic food<\/a> as well as international cuisine. The city also features many festivals, including an annual children\u2019s festival and arts festival, which celebrates the creativity of people in Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-egilsstadir\"><a><\/a>Egilsstadir<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The town has two churches, one Catholic and one Lutheran. There are also a couple of stores with souvenirs as well as food and drinks. If you have more time, head north to Seydisfjordur where there is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/field-museum-sea-predator_n_2441316\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sea Museum<\/a> in a restored warehouse. There is also a seal colony on the way. Further north from here is Kirkjubaejarklaustur which is home to Iceland&rsquo;s only botanical gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gardur\"><a><\/a>Gardur<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s a small town that offers a range of things to do including whale watching tours, golfing or taking your dog for a walk on the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The town has two restaurants and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/food\/2021\/jul\/14\/an-ice-cream-parlour-with-a-difference\" rel=\"nofollow\">ice cream parlour<\/a> so it&rsquo;s worth checking out when you&rsquo;re in the area. Also Gardur is surrounded by mountains which means there are some great hiking trails nearby.&nbsp; If you like outdoor adventures then this place should be at the top of your list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-vik\"><a><\/a>Vik<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most popular thing to do in Vik is visit the Black Sand Beach at Reynisfjara and explore the lava rocks around it for beautiful views of the ocean. Other places worth a visit are Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Skaftafell, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Hofn Harbour, and Dyrholaey Headland. Visitors can also hike or drive through the Lava Tunnel at Hveravellir Geothermal Area or enjoy horseback riding tours on Faxi Mountain.
