Les Thompson sont tr\u00e8s heureux d&rsquo;accueillir leur nouveau gendre dans leur famille&nbsp;\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Maddison Stone, l&rsquo;attach\u00e9e de presse de M. Thompson, dans un courriel adress\u00e9 au Washington Post lundi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le 19 juillet, M. Thompson s&rsquo;est joint \u00e0 156 autres membres r\u00e9publicains de la Chambre des repr\u00e9sentants pour s&rsquo;opposer au Respect for Marriage Act. Les d\u00e9mocrates du Congr\u00e8s poussent la l\u00e9gislation en r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 l&rsquo;annulation par la Cour supr\u00eame, le mois dernier, de Roe v. Wade, la d\u00e9cision de 1973 qui, pendant pr\u00e8s d&rsquo;un demi-si\u00e8cle, a garanti aux femmes le droit \u00e0 l&rsquo;avortement. L&rsquo;arr\u00eat de la Cour a suscit\u00e9 la crainte que d&rsquo;autres pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents tr\u00e8s m\u00e9diatis\u00e9s ne soient les prochains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s le vote, l&rsquo;attach\u00e9 de presse de Thompson a d\u00e9nonc\u00e9 la l\u00e9gislation comme un tour de passe-passe politique destin\u00e9 \u00e0 distraire les \u00e9lecteurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab&nbsp;Ce projet de loi n&rsquo;\u00e9tait rien de plus qu&rsquo;un coup de communication d&rsquo;ann\u00e9e \u00e9lectorale pour les d\u00e9mocrates du Congr\u00e8s qui n&rsquo;ont pas r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 s&rsquo;attaquer \u00e0 l&rsquo;inflation&nbsp;\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M. Stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La loi sur le respect du mariage est une solution de secours. Pour le moment, l&rsquo;arr\u00eat de la Cour supr\u00eame de 2015 dans l&rsquo;affaire Obergefell v. Hodges interdit aux \u00c9tats d&rsquo;interdire les mariages entre personnes de m\u00eame sexe. En plus de prot\u00e9ger les mariages entre personnes de m\u00eame sexe, la loi sur le respect du mariage consacrerait le droit des couples interraciaux \u00e0 se marier, un droit prot\u00e9g\u00e9 par l&rsquo;arr\u00eat Loving v.
