C’est au cours d\u2019une interview accord\u00e9e au quotidien en ligne Jeune Afrique, lundi 07 mars 2016, que l\u2019archev\u00eaque \u00e9m\u00e9rite de Douala le cardinal Christian Tumi a demand\u00e9 au pr\u00e9sident Paul Biya de surprendre les responsables du RDPC en d\u00e9clinant leur invitation \u00e0 se repr\u00e9senter\u00a0\u00bb :<\/p>\n
\u00ab Si jetais \u00e0 la place de Paul Biya, je surprendrais tout ce beau monde en disant c\u2019est fini, je me retire. Je ne suis plus candidat, je demanderais que mon parti d\u00e9signe quelqu\u2019un d\u2019autre pour prendre la rel\u00e8ve \u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
car \u00e0 83 ans on est \u201cfatigu\u00e9 \u201d et par cons\u00e9quent on ne peut plus tenir les r\u00eanes d\u2019un poste aussi prestigieux que la pr\u00e9sidence de la r\u00e9publique. Il ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0, il continue son propos en prenant exemple sur lui-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n
\u201cJe ne suis pas contre la candidature du Chef de l\u2019\u00c9tat. Mais voyez vous, nous avons presque le m\u00eame \u00e2ge, et \u00e0 cet \u00e2ge l\u00e0, quelque soit son endurance ou sa force physique, on est affaibli. Je ne peux pas faire aujourd\u2019hui ce que je faisais il y\u2019a 20 ans. Quand on est vieux, on peut \u00eatre un bon conseiller, mais on ne peut plus diriger un pays si jeune et si complexe.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
C\u2019est dans ce m\u00eame ordre d\u2019id\u00e9es que Vincent Sosth\u00e8ne Fouda pr\u00e9sident du Mouvement Camerounais pour la Social-D\u00e9mocratie (M.C.P.S.D) a salu\u00e9 le courage du pr\u00e9sident Paul biya pour tout ce temps qu\u2019il a consacr\u00e9 au service de la nation, et il lui demande en retour de soutenir sa candidature aux prochaines \u00e9lections\u00a0pr\u00e9sidentielles.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Le pr\u00e9sident Paul Biya a donn\u00e9 48 ans de sa vie au service du Cameroun, en cela nous lui devons beaucoup. Au sein du bureau politique du Mouvement Camerounais pour la Social-D\u00e9mocratie [M.C.P.S.D] nous saluons ces 48 ans. Il est arriv\u00e9 au pouvoir \u00e0 49 ans, il en a aujourd\u2019hui 83, l\u2019\u00e2ge de la grandeur biblique dans tous les sens. Je sais qu\u2019il voudrait se reposer mais il souhaite s\u2019assurer qu\u2019il laisse un pays en paix. Nous pensons au MCPSD que la grandeur d\u2019un homme n\u2019est pas dans ce qu\u2019il est mais dans ce qu\u2019il rend possible. Paul Biya rend possible la transition douce au Cameroun voil\u00e0 pourquoi \u00e0 titre personnel je voudrais le saluer, Paul Biya \u2013 Il a su \u00eatre plus grand que sa condition d\u2019homme, il rend possible l\u2019avenir voil\u00e0 pourquoi il ne va pas se repr\u00e9senter \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle d\u2019octobre 2016. Je l\u2019appelle donc \u00e0 soutenir notre candidature \u00e0 cette \u00e9lection parce que nous sommes le candidat de l\u2019interposition, le candidat du rassemblement au bras ouvert pour la r\u00e9conciliation nationale et citoyenne \u00bb.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
