Afin de l&rsquo;utiliser correctement, il doit \u00eatre port\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur du vagin pendant une p\u00e9riode de 28 jours, apr\u00e8s quoi il doit \u00eatre remplac\u00e9 par un nouvel anneau. L&rsquo;anneau est en silicone et il est facile \u00e0 plier et \u00e0 ins\u00e9rer. L&rsquo;anneau lib\u00e8re le m\u00e9dicament antir\u00e9troviral dapivirine dans le vagin lentement pendant 28 jours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deux essais contr\u00f4l\u00e9s randomis\u00e9s de phase III ont montr\u00e9 que l&rsquo;utilisation du DPV-VR r\u00e9duisait le risque d&rsquo;infection chez les femmes et que l&rsquo;utilisation \u00e0 long terme \u00e9tait bien tol\u00e9r\u00e9e. L&rsquo;\u00e9tude de l&rsquo;anneau a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 une r\u00e9duction du VIH de 35% chez les femmes utilisant le DPV-VR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le DPV-VR est destin\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9duire le risque de contracter le VIH lors de rapports vaginaux pour les femmes qui sont expos\u00e9es \u00e0 un risque important de contracter le VIH, en tant qu&rsquo;approche de pr\u00e9vention compl\u00e9mentaire en plus d&rsquo;autres pratiques sexuelles \u00e0 moindre risque.&nbsp; Il peut \u00eatre propos\u00e9 parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 la PPrE orale en tant que choix pour les femmes qui ne veulent pas ou ne peuvent pas prendre un comprim\u00e9 oral au quotidien. Alors que les anneaux vaginaux contraceptifs sont disponibles depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, le DPV-VR est le premier produit vaginal de pr\u00e9vention du VIH.
