Badu Bonsu II aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9capit\u00e9 en repr\u00e9sailles au meurtre de deux \u00e9missaires n\u00e9erlandais en 1838. Selon le gouvernement n\u00e9erlandais, Badu Bonsu II aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 remis par sa propre \u00abnation\u00bb \u00e0 des colons n\u00e9erlandais, qui avaient alors le contr\u00f4le d&rsquo;une partie de l&rsquo;ancienne Gold Coast (aujourd&rsquo;hui le Ghana) qui comprenait les terres tribales Ahanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arthur Japin, un auteur n\u00e9erlandais qui a d\u00e9couvert la t\u00eate du roi alors qu&rsquo;il travaillait sur un roman historique, a not\u00e9 que la t\u00eate de Badu Bonsu II avait \u00e9t\u00e9 prise par le major-g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Jan Verveer en 1838 en repr\u00e9sailles au meurtre du roi de deux \u00e9missaires n\u00e9erlandais, dont la t\u00eate ont \u00e9t\u00e9 affich\u00e9s comme troph\u00e9es sur son tr\u00f4ne. Conserv\u00e9 dans un pot de formald\u00e9hyde, la tete du roi Badu Bonsu II a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert accumulant de la poussi\u00e8re dans un laboratoire du centre m\u00e9dical de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Leiden par l&rsquo;auteur n\u00e9erlandais \u00e0 succ\u00e8s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img  title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"301\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.afrikmag.com\/uploads\/2020\/01\/download-2-2.jpg\"  alt=\"Badu Bonsu II: Le roi ghan\u00e9en dont la t\u00eate a \u00e9t\u00e9 conserv\u00e9e dans un bocal en laboratoire\"  class=\"wp-image-187863\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.afrikmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/download-2-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.afrikmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/download-2-2-300x151.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il y \u00e9tait depuis son arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1830 \u00e0 partir de ce qu&rsquo;on appelait alors la Dutch Gold Coast et est aujourd&rsquo;hui le Ghana. Japin, le romancier n\u00e9erlandais, a expliqu\u00e9 comment il avait aid\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9unir la t\u00eate de Badu Bonsu II avec son corps. \u00ab\u00a0 Je recherchais mon roman sur un gar\u00e7on Ahanta amen\u00e9 aux Pays-Bas en 1838, et dans le m\u00eame temps, j&rsquo;ai entendu parler du roi, qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 un ami du gar\u00e7on. Je cherchais la t\u00eate depuis plus de 10 ans \u00a0\u00bb, aurait d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Japin. \u00a0\u00bb Finalement, en 2002, je l&rsquo;ai trouv\u00e9 enferm\u00e9 dans un placard sombre o\u00f9 il se trouvait depuis plus de 170 ans. \u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En mars 2009, les responsables du gouvernement du Ghana ont annonc\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il serait renvoy\u00e9 dans son pays d&rsquo;origine pour un enterrement appropri\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les gouvernements n\u00e9erlandais et ghan\u00e9en et un membre de la tribu Ahanta de Badu Bonsu ont sign\u00e9 un pacte \u00e0 La Haye pour la remise du chef, qui est rest\u00e9 hors de vue dans une pi\u00e8ce ailleurs dans le b\u00e2timent du minist\u00e8re des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res pour la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie.
