Apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9radication de\nla variole et du poliovirus sauvage de type 2, cette nouvelle repr\u00e9sente un accomplissement\nhistorique pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab L\u2019\u00e9radication de la poliomy\u00e9lite sera un jalon\nimportant pour la sant\u00e9 mondiale \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Dr Tedros Adhanom\nGhebreyesusus, Directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l\u2019Organisation mondiale de la Sant\u00e9 (OMS)\net Pr\u00e9sident du Conseil de surveillance de la poliomy\u00e9lite de l\u2019Initiative\nmondiale pour l\u2019\u00e9radication de la poliomy\u00e9lite (IMEP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab L\u2019engagement des partenaires et des pays conjugu\u00e9s \u00e0\nl\u2019innovation a conduit \u00e0 ceci : il ne reste plus qu\u2019un des trois s\u00e9rotypes de\npoliovirus sauvages \u00bb, a-t-il ajout\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le chef de l&rsquo;OMS a dit sa d\u00e9termination \u00e0 faire en sorte\n\u00ab que toutes les ressources n\u00e9cessaires soient mobilis\u00e9es pour \u00e9liminer toutes\nles souches de poliovirus. Nous exhortons tous les autres partenaires et\nparties prenantes \u00e0 maintenir le cap jusqu\u2019\u00e0 atteindre le succ\u00e8s final \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il existe trois souches de poliovirus sauvages distinctes\nsur le plan immunologique : le poliovirus sauvage de type 1 (PVS1), le\npoliovirus sauvage de type 2 (PVS2) et le poliovirus sauvage de type 3 (PVS3).\nSymptomatiquement, les trois souches sont identiques, en ce sens qu\u2019elles\nprovoquent une paralysie irr\u00e9versible, voire la mort. Mais il existe des\ndiff\u00e9rences g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques et virologiques qui font que ce sont trois virus\ndistincts qui doivent chacun \u00eatre \u00e9radiqu\u00e9s individuellement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les efforts d\u2019\u00e9radication de la poliomy\u00e9lite ont permis\nau monde d\u2019\u00e9conomiser plus de 27 milliards de dollars en co\u00fbts de sant\u00e9 depuis 1988.\nUn monde durablement exempt de poliomy\u00e9lite g\u00e9n\u00e9rera 14 milliards de dollars\nd\u2019\u00e9conomies suppl\u00e9mentaires d\u2019ici 2050, par rapport au co\u00fbt que les pays\ndevraient supporter pour contr\u00f4ler le virus ind\u00e9finiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019Initiative mondiale pour l\u2019\u00e9radication de la poliomy\u00e9lite (IMEP) est une initiative mondiale public-priv\u00e9 compos\u00e9e de gouvernements nationaux, de partenaires, dont l\u2019OMS, Rotary International, les Centers for Disease Control and Prevention des \u00c9tats-Unis, l\u2019UNICEF, la Fondation Bill &amp; Melinda Gates et d\u2019autres donateurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo: OnuInfo<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L\u2019Organisation mondiale de la Sant\u00e9 (OMS) a annonc\u00e9 le jeudi 24 octobre que deux souches de poliovirus sauvage sur trois ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9radiqu\u00e9es, rapporte Onu Info.
