\u00a0Pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019occasion de la 8e\u00a0conf\u00e9rence de l\u2019International AIDS Society (IAS) qui se tient du 19 au 22 juillet \u00e0 Vancouver au Canada par une \u00e9quipe fran\u00e7aise,\u00a0il constitue un argument fort en faveur d\u2019une mise sous traitement de tous les enfants n\u00e9s de m\u00e8res s\u00e9ropositives le plus t\u00f4t possible apr\u00e8s la naissance.<\/em><\/p>\n

Une jeune femme fran\u00e7aise \u00e2g\u00e9e de 18 ans est devenue ce mercredi 20 juillet, le symbole d’un grand pas dans la lutte contre le VIH\/SIDA. Elle est le premier cas mondial de r\u00e9mission aussi prolong\u00e9e chez un enfant.<\/p>\n

N\u00e9e en 1996 d’une m\u00e8re s\u00e9ropositive, elle est plac\u00e9e sous traitement prophylactique pendant six semaines. Malgr\u00e9 cela, elle est contamin\u00e9e par le virus. Les m\u00e9decins mettent alors en route un traitement associant quatre antir\u00e9troviraux qui sera poursuivi pendant 6 ans. Sa famille d\u00e9cide alors d’interrompre le protocole et dispara\u00eet. Un drame aurait pu se produire, car sans traitement, l’enfant aurait d\u00fb d\u00e9clarer le SIDA et mourir.<\/p>\n

Or, revue un an plus tard par son \u00e9quipe m\u00e9dicale, l’enfant pr\u00e9sente une charge virale (presque) ind\u00e9tectable. \u00ab\u00a0Douze ans apr\u00e8s, elle pr\u00e9sente toujours une charge virale au seuil de d\u00e9tection particuli\u00e8rement bas, sans avoir jamais repris d’antir\u00e9troviraux\u00a0\u00bb, se r\u00e9jouissent les m\u00e9decins.<\/p>\n
