Il a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 envoy\u00e9 aux Pays-Bas pour y suivre une formation d&rsquo;ing\u00e9nieur.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\"> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">Avec son cousin Kwame Poku, il fut envoy\u00e9 en 1837 par son roi aux Pays-Bas pour y recevoir une \u00e9ducation, dans le cadre de n\u00e9gociations plus larges entre Ashanti concernant le recrutement de soldats ashantis pour l&rsquo;arm\u00e9e des Indes orientales n\u00e9erlandaises.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"article-image__picture\"  title=\"\"  src=\"https:\/\/netstorage-yen.akamaized.net\/images\/0895f62399ab1738.jpg\"  alt=\"Kwasi Boakye, le prince ghan\u00e9en qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 le premier ing\u00e9nieur noir des mines au monde\"  width=\"600\" height=\"877\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bien que Kwame Poku soit revenu sur la Gold Coast comme pr\u00e9vu, Kwasi Boakye est rest\u00e9 aux Pays-Bas. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9 comme ing\u00e9nieur des mines \u00e0 l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 de Delft, o\u00f9 il a obtenu son dipl\u00f4me en 1847. En juillet 1847, il donnait des conf\u00e9rences \u00e0 la Bergakademie de Freiberg, en Allemagne.<\/p>\n<p>Pendant ses services, il est rest\u00e9 avec Caroline Geudtner \u00e0 Petersstrasse. En 1850, il fut envoy\u00e9 dans les Indes orientales n\u00e9erlandaises, o\u00f9 il fut discrimin\u00e9 par son sup\u00e9rieur, Cornelius de Groot van Embden, pour lequel il re\u00e7ut une compensation financi\u00e8re en 1857.
