Une fillette de 5 ans a \u00e9t\u00e9 laiss\u00e9e paralys\u00e9e \u00e0 la suite de blessures subies lorsqu’elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 brutalement viol\u00e9e <\/span><\/p>\n

Au d\u00e9but, personne ne comprenait pourquoi elle ne pouvait plus bouger ses jambes ou contr\u00f4ler son urine. Pendant des mois, elle est rest\u00e9e allong\u00e9e sur le sol, incapable de marcher ou de jouer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Certains membres de la communaut\u00e9 ont attribu\u00e9 cela \u00e0 la sorcellerie, mais la vraie raison \u00e9tait plus horrible : L’enfant avait \u00e9t\u00e9 brutalement viol\u00e9e et laiss\u00e9e paralys\u00e9e \u00e0 cause de ses blessures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cette affaire a mis en lumi\u00e8res les questions sur la violence sexuelle contre les enfants en Sierra Leone, o\u00f9 de tels crimes sont souvent trait\u00e9s entre familles en priv\u00e9. En f\u00e9vrier, le pr\u00e9sident Julius Maada Bio a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la violence sexuelle devenait une urgence nationale et a promis d’aider la victime \u00e0 obtenir des soins m\u00e9dicaux \u00e0 l’\u00e9tranger.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mais des mois plus tard, le cas de la jeune fille montre \u00e0 quel point il peut \u00eatre difficile de lutter contre la violence sexuelle : Son p\u00e8re s’est oppos\u00e9 \u00e0 ce que le viol soit jug\u00e9 au tribunal, exigeant de la police qu’elle rende une ordonnance de non-communication pour qu’elle puisse continuer \u00e0 recevoir un traitement m\u00e9dical. Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce jour, aucune date de comparution n’a \u00e9t\u00e9 fix\u00e9e. Peu de choses ont chang\u00e9 aussi pour l’enfant dont la vie a \u00e9t\u00e9 si cruellement touch\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fatima Maada Bio, l’\u00e9pouse du pr\u00e9sident sierra l\u00e9onais et avocate des droits des filles, s’est rendue au Aberdeen Women’s Center o\u00f9 la victime re\u00e7oit des soins m\u00e9dicaux gratuits.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019urgence nationale d\u00e9cr\u00e9t\u00e9 par le pr\u00e9sident Julius Maada Bio en f\u00e9vrier a \u00e9t\u00e9 largement critiqu\u00e9e par l\u2019opposition. Les l\u00e9gislateurs des partis d’opposition se sont oppos\u00e9s \u00e0 la d\u00e9claration unilat\u00e9rale du pr\u00e9sident. Le Parlement doit encore approuver la mesure, bien que le procureur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la Sierra Leone ait ordonn\u00e9 aux juges de commencer \u00e0 l’appliquer.<\/span><\/p>\n

La d\u00e9claration pr\u00e9voit la cr\u00e9ation d’une division sp\u00e9ciale de la police charg\u00e9e de traiter les affaires d’agression sexuelle impliquant des mineurs. Plus important encore, il pr\u00e9voit l’emprisonnement \u00e0 perp\u00e9tuit\u00e9 pour les personnes reconnues coupables de viol d’enfants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Un an apr\u00e8s le viol, la fillette de 5 ans est toujours incapable de marcher et elle utilise un fauteuil roulant \u00e0 manivelle pour se d\u00e9placer. Elle suit un traitement contre les escarres de d\u00e9cubitus qui se sont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es sur son dos apr\u00e8s l\u2019incident.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elle a quitt\u00e9 l’\u00e9cole depuis un an et elle veut reprendre ses \u00e9tudes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Hier encore, elle disait qu’elle voulait aller \u00e0 l’\u00e9cole et qu’elle allait avoir besoin d’une moto\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 sa m\u00e8re.<\/span><\/p>\n
