L’exhumation du corps de l\u2019ex-pr\u00e9sident burkinab\u00e8, Thomas Sankara, assassin\u00e9 en 1987 lors d’un coup d’\u00c9tat, a d\u00e9but\u00e9 lieu lundi \u00e0 Ouagadougou. Le gouvernement de Blaise Compaor\u00e9, d\u00e9chu en octobre, avait toujours refus\u00e9 d\u2019ouvrir le dossier.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pr\u00e8s de 28 ans apr\u00e8s la mort de l\u2019ex-pr\u00e9sident burkinab\u00e8, la d\u00e9pouille de Thomas Sankara a \u00e9t\u00e9 exhum\u00e9e lundi 25 mai \u00e0 Ouagadougou, au Burkina Faso. Une op\u00e9ration conduite par trois m\u00e9decins – un Fran\u00e7ais et deux Burkinab\u00e8s – qui entre dans le cadre d’une instruction ouverte fin mars.<\/div>\n

Si les r\u00e9ponses que devrait apporter cette d\u00e9marche ne sont pas encore connues, l\u2019exhumation du corps repr\u00e9sente d\u2019ores et d\u00e9j\u00e0 l\u2019aboutissement d\u2019une longue proc\u00e9dure.<\/div>\n

Beaucoup de questions restent en suspens en ce qui concerne les faits survenus le 15 octobre 1987 \u00e0 Ouagadougou. Alors pr\u00e9sident, Thomas Sankara est assassin\u00e9, en compagnie de 12 de ses compagnons lors d\u2019un coup d’\u00c9tat qui portera Blaise Compaor\u00e9 au sommet du pouvoir pendant 27 ans.Il est par la suite enterr\u00e9 \u00e0 la sauvette. Selon la version officielle, l\u2019ic\u00f4ne du panafricanisme aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 inhum\u00e9e au cimeti\u00e8re de Dagno\u00ebn (quartier est de Ouagadougou), mais sa famille et ses nombreux partisans doutent que son corps s’y trouve r\u00e9ellement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rechercher la cause de la mort<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Tr\u00e8s attendue, cette exhumation permettra \u00ab\u00a0d’identifier gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des tests ADN si c’est effectivement le corps du pr\u00e9sident Thomas (Sankara) qui se trouve dans cette tombe\u00a0\u00bb mais aussi de \u00ab\u00a0rechercher la cause de la mort\u00a0\u00bb, avait pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 en amont l\u2019avocat de la famille Sankara, B\u00e9n\u00e9wend\u00e9 Stanislas Sankara (qui n’aucun lien de parent\u00e9 avec l’ancien chef de l’\u00c9tat). Selon le certificat de d\u00e9c\u00e8s, qui pr\u00e9sente la version officielle burundaise – le leader embl\u00e9matique aurait succomb\u00e9 \u00e0 une \u00ab\u00a0mort naturelle\u00a0\u00bb.<\/div>\n

Le doute est d\u2019autant plus pr\u00e9sent que le r\u00e9gime de Blaise Compaor\u00e9 a toujours refus\u00e9 d\u2019ouvrir une enqu\u00eate, malgr\u00e9 les nombreuses demandes de la famille et des proches de Thomas Sankara \u2013 la premi\u00e8re plainte d\u00e9pos\u00e9e pour assassinat date de 1997.<\/div>\n

Faisant fi d\u2019une recommandation du Comit\u00e9 des droits de l’Homme de l’ONU, en 2006, puis d\u2019une d\u00e9cision de la Cour africaine des droits de l’Homme, en 2008, qui ordonnait la tenue d\u2019expertises, le gouvernement Compaor\u00e9 a, une \u00e0 une, jug\u00e9 irrecevables les requ\u00eates de la famille.<\/div>\n

Le symbole Sankara<\/strong><\/div>\n

L\u2019exhumation a finalement \u00e9t\u00e9 rendue possible par la chute de Blaise Compaor\u00e9, chass\u00e9 par la rue en octobre dernier, alors qu’il voulait r\u00e9viser la Constitution pour se maintenir au pouvoir. Au cours de ce soul\u00e8vement populaire, la figure de Thomas Sankara, r\u00e9volutionnaire lou\u00e9 pour son int\u00e9grit\u00e9, s’est impos\u00e9e comme la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence politique majeure des manifestants.<\/div>\n

D\u00e9but mars, le gouvernement de transition a autoris\u00e9 l’exhumation.<\/div>\n
