Elles affirment que le h\u00e9ros de l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance indienne n\u2019avait jamais rien fait pour le pays de l\u2019Afrique australe.<\/p>\n<p>Les travaux sur cette statue ont commenc\u00e9, il y a deux mois, sur une route portant le nom de Gandhi. Le gouvernement du Malawi a annonc\u00e9 la construction de cette statue dans le cadre d&rsquo;un accord sign\u00e9 avec New Delhi qui pr\u00e9voit aussi la construction d&rsquo;un centre de congr\u00e8s \u00e9valu\u00e9e \u00e0 10 millions de dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, cet accord entre le gouvernement malawite et le gouvernement de New Delhi n\u2019est pas le bienvenu pour certains habitants du pays.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0 Mahatma Gandhi n&rsquo;a jamais contribu\u00e9 en quoi que ce soit au combat du Malawi pour l&rsquo;ind\u00e9pendance et la libert\u00e9. Nous pensons que cette statue nous est impos\u00e9e par une puissance \u00e9trang\u00e8re pour promouvoir son image et sa domination\u00a0\u00bb, pr\u00e9cise la p\u00e9tition.<\/p>\n<p>Les p\u00e9titionnaires affirment que Mahamat Gandhi \u00e9tait un raciste. \u00ab\u00a0Nous n\u2019avons rien contre l\u2019aide au d\u00e9veloppement mais nous n\u2019appr\u00e9cions pas les id\u00e9ologies imp\u00e9rialistes et n\u00e9ocoloniales qui cherchent \u00e0 imposer une influence \u00e9trang\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019AFP Merveille Mkutche, l\u2019un des principaux signataires de la p\u00e9tition.<\/p>\n<p>Isaac Munlo, un haut cadre du minist\u00e8re des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res, a d\u00e9fendu le projet en soulignant\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Mahamat Ghandi a promu la d\u00e9fense des droits de l\u2019homme et influenc\u00e9 tous les Africains qui ont combattu le colonialisme et l\u2019oppression.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Le Malawi et l\u2019Inde ont \u00e9tabli des relations diplomatiques en 1964 et New Delhi est l\u2019un des principaux donateurs du pays.<\/p>\n<p>Cr\u00e9dit photo\u00a0: arabnews<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Plus de 3\u00a0000 personnes ont sign\u00e9 une p\u00e9tition pour protester contre l\u2019\u00e9rection d\u2019une statue de Mahatma Gandhi dans la capitale \u00e9conomique du pays, Blantyre.
