Apr\u00e8s le retrait de son pays du Commonwealth suite \u00e0 une d\u00e9cision de son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur Yahya Jammeh, le pays est de retour apr\u00e8s quatre ans d&rsquo;absence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">En 2013, la Gambie annon\u00e7ait son retrait du Commonwealth. Quatre apr\u00e8s, elle r\u00e9int\u00e8gre l&rsquo;organisation internationale. Pour marquer ce retour, une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de lev\u00e9e de drapeaux a eu lieu ce jeudi 08 f\u00e9vier en pr\u00e9sence de la secr\u00e9taire g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Patricia Scotland et l&rsquo;ambassadeur Gambien au Royaume-Uni,\u00a0Francis Blain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">\u00ab\u00a0La Gambie ne fera jamais partie d\u2019une institution n\u00e9o-coloniale\u00a0\u00bb, expliquait Yahya Jammeh dans un communiqu\u00e9 en 2013. En 2016, Adama Barrow, remporte la pr\u00e9sidentielle et assure de sortir le pays de d&rsquo;isolation au niveau international. \u00ab\u00a0<em>Le gouvernement gambien est ravi d\u2019\u00eatre de retour parmi cette famille qu\u2019est le Commonwealth et tient \u00e0 remercier les 52 chefs d\u2019\u00c9tat qui ont accept\u00e9 notre adh\u00e9sion<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb, a expliqu\u00e9\u00a0le porte-parole du minist\u00e8re des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res \u00e0\u00a0<em>Jeune Afrique<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Patricia Scotland, la secr\u00e9taire g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du Commonwealth a quant \u00e0 elle pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 dans un communiqu\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0<em>Nous \u00e9tions impatients du retour de la Gambie et \u00e9tions ravis quand, apr\u00e8s sa victoire aux urnes l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, le pr\u00e9sident Barrow a annonc\u00e9 son retour<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<h4>Les avantages du Commonwealth<\/h4>\n<p>Le Commonwealth fournit \u00e0 ses membres un soutien pour am\u00e9liorer la comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re d&rsquo;\u00e9change commercial, ou encore des r\u00e8gles d\u2019immigration assouplies \u00e0 destination du Royaume-Uni. La Gambie, qui a h\u00e9rit\u00e9 de son ancien pr\u00e9sident, une dette d&rsquo;un milliard de dollars, b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiera d&rsquo;un soutien \u00e9conomique de la part de l&rsquo;organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Adama Barrow a aussi annul\u00e9 la sortie de la Cour p\u00e9nale internationale pr\u00e9vue par son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur. Notons que d\u00e8s son accession au pouvoir, le nouveau pr\u00e9sident a re\u00e7u de l&rsquo;Union europ\u00e9enne 225 millions d&rsquo;euros.
